Potterton Netaheat 10-16 front control knob missing?

We have just rented a property with a Potterton Netaheat 10-16 Mk 2f boiler. The front control knob is missing and we have no instruction manual. Is the boiler safe to use without this? (Heating and gas are currently switched off) Can we light the boiler without this knob? We have asked our landlord to sort this for us but think it may be quicker if we do it ourselves and then charge him for it. All help appreciated.

my potterton netaheat 10-16 was working fine until this afternoon, and now can not turn it on. Where is the on/off swicth and can I reset it.

I think this boiler was last made in 1984 and spares are likely to be very difficult to obtain.

The landlord is obliged by law to have it serviced regularly

If you mend it and it subsequently goes wrong, even for some completely unrelated reason, the landlord may hold you responsible for any subsequent problem.

A replacement boiler will cost from £2500 - £4000 including installation.

The boiler is very inefficient at 68% - modern boilers are around 90% efficient.

The knob on the front may well be the control that sets the temperature the water is heated to - turn it from end to end and set it to the mid point and see what happens.

Good luck...
