How can i fix a screen problem (pictures hickup) on my television?

I have an eleven years old standard "19 Panasonic tv. Everything is fine, but one thing that drives me nut is its screen(picture) is jumping when i first turn the tv on until i knock on the tv. The pictures on the screen are jumping intermittantly(on & off)and the problem stops when the tv gets warm. I am very much appreciate if somone can provide any information how to cure this problem . Thanks!

hi,chances are your set is suffering from dry joints somewhere on the main printed circuit board, this is best dealt with by a qualified tv engineer,or someone with a sound electronics background as there will be some high voltages stored within some of the components.Dry joints occur when the original coating of solder cracks around the leg/pins of the component/s to the circuit board causing all sorts of intermittant symptoms as you describe.once resoldered, normal service is resumed, good luck.
