My Kenmore sewing machine Bobbin Holder won't turn... keeps getting stuck?

I have about a 1980 Kenmore sewing machine. The bobbin holder is a front-loaded, not top loaded. When I place the bobbin on the holder, and try to start sewing, the needle (without any thread on the bobbin or through the needle) gets stuck all the way down, like it is trying to push the bobbin holder out. I have removed the two arms, to pull out the bobbin mechanism, put the mechanism back in, locked the arms, and the whole think works okay. Then when I put the bobbin holder in, it gets stuck, and the whole process starts over.... help!!!!!!! I have lost my instruction manual, so you are my only hope!!!

Okay, this might or might not help. When you put the bobbin in, do you hear a snap that tells you it's in place? If not, try again after you hear the snap. If the bobbin is in correctly, check the timing. I can't tell you right now how to check the timing, but do a search online for simple sewing machine repairs for timing, and you might find something. It's simply knowing where the parts are supposed to be when you turn the wheel by hand, and making adjustments with a screwdriver. Good luck!

I have the same problem, but mine seems to be caused by the needle hitting the bobbin holder, its like it is out of line? I am waiting for someone with an answer too. Mine sounds about the same age as your one.
