Further to "Go to Panicware"...
I can confirm Ad-aware 6 is the best, I use both these softwares on my Dell and they are great. they will also remind you to update when they bring out a new edition.
DON'T get confused with Adware.com thats a no-no.

Go to computeractive .co.uk there is plenty of free popup stoppers there also get ad-aware 6 to get rid of the spyware the popups are annoying the spyware will hijack your connection and slow your computer down
