my piolet light will not stay on today i put a new thoermocouple in but fractured the metal too expose the inner wire ? ( i put my meter on the new one and old one and held it over gas and the reading went up on both off them ) but when i loose the gas knob piolet goes out

check all safety stats. some stats are linked to your gas valve and if faulty your valve will not stay open on the pilot.
