leaking overflow and dripping toilet?

Hi can anyone help I have a similar problem when I run my coldwater tap fast running a bath it always starts my overflow going which is difficult for me to stop as I cant really reach my tank and frightened of going in the loft space (silly I know!)but now my toilet has started dripping. any Information you can give me is greatly welcome.

Hi thanks so much for your help I will pluck the courage up to take a look if not I will call somebody out but with the credit crunch Im always cautious of cowboys, not that I think all tradesmen are dodgy.

Lisa. Don't be embarrassed about going in the loft. I have lived in the same house since I married 25 yrs ago and the wife has NEVER dared even looked into ours, let alone climb up.
Anyway, sounds like the ball valve in the coldwater tank in your roofspace is in need of ajustment or replacement.
They do become defective, due to the obvious ajacent water and cost about £10 for a new one.
However, if your not confident get a plumber in and it should NOT be too costly as it is a reletively quick procedure.
