How to change the fan assy?

I have an Ideal Classic FF 2-100 boiler with a noisy fan, in order to replace the bearings I would like to remove the fan assy...

does anybody know how to remove the assy?

Ian,

Thanks for the response; I have tried lubricating the bearings with WD-40 and 2-in-1 oil which works for a few weeks... but the rumbling comes back; the bearings have become damaged beyond repair.

I guess back to my oringinal question; how do I remove the fan assembly?; even if I were to purchase an new assy, I would still need to accomplish this task.

My plan was to remove the assy; check if the bearings were accessible; if so purchase new ones and pressfit them into the housing, re-fitting assy. Or, purchase a new assy and install.

Thanks

Steve

You can't replace the bearings on a fan, only replace the full fan. Usually you can get away with cleaning and lubricating the fan bearings. Firstly spray the bearings thorougly with wd40 or similar and spin the impeller manually in both directions until running smoothly, then lubricate with a heavier oil (such as bike chain oil) and allow to run as normal. This should quiet the fan and you don't need to remove it.
This should only be carried out by a qualified person.
