TV shuts off? Whack it back on?

I have a 19" RCA. It started shutting off by itself. If you whack it, sometimes more than once , it comes back on. Sometimes it stays on for a long period of time. sometimes, it shut back off in a few minutes. What's the deal here? Do I need a new TV?
