Need help putting a new cord in bathroom light/fan ceiling switch!?

Last week the cord to my ceiling light in my bathroom snapped. After managing to get the light off by pulling the string from the inside, I'm now having trouble putting the cord back in. I've got two bare wires in the fitting, (the lights have been off at the mains since), and a lot of stuff that I'm not sure how to put back together, so I was hoping I could get some help here.

Now, as I'm obviously not an electrician, I don't know what all the pieces are properly called in the trade. So I have taken some pictures of what I have, what I've done and what I need to do and hope that it will be enough to get some advice on what to do.

This is what is currently in the ceiling:

These are the pieces I have:

And this is the part of the cord I intend to put in:

What I really need help with is how to properly put the cord and the bottom half of the fitting together. I've been trying for days to figure out how the pieces fit and stay together, no idea where what pieces go or anything else. Any and all help really is appreciated.

Thanks.

Alex.
