If the battery pack is dead will it cause error messages? And I also have a yellow light blinking, IBM THINKPAD 600X

If the CMOS backup battery is dead it will give error codes. Download a Hardware Maintenance Manual for tht TP 600 from www.lenovo.com and work your way through the diagnostics. It will tell what battery to buy and how to replace it.
