water leaking from top off boiler, expansion valve ????

when boiler is primed there is a great lose of water from the top left corner, expansion valve I guess, what could be the problem. its a ravenheat rsf820/20 boiler of some age

Sounds like your automatic air valve is leaking, this will need to be replaced. Pretty standard fitting and costs about £10.
