How can I fix my icemaker?

My Kenmore side-by-side started leaking water from the valve at the bottom to the refrigerator that connects to the brass tubing that taps into the house pipe. Just prior to the leak the the icemaker and water outlet on the door stopped working. I fixed the leak by just cleaning the valve. The water outlet on the door worked immediately but the ice maker doesn't function at all. I've tried to check the water lines to the icemaker but not sure about that. How do I know if the motor/pump of the icemaker works? There is no sound when pressing the bar on the front door that usually activates it.

I have had that same problem with an magic chef refrigerator. On the inside of the freezer compartment in the magic chef you can unscrew the back panel to get to the cooling area. It was full of ice around the coils. I took a hair dryer to that and defrosted the coils and it works perfectly. Also if there has ever had water spill at the back of the ice maker the motor could be frozen. If that is the case defrosting that along with the coils should take care of that as well. If not you can type in Google " testing refrigerator ice maker " and it should get you to a test area.
