The plastic comb housed outside the blades that prevents tangling and paper buildup around the blades is broken. Seems the simple fix would be to replace the plastic part which I've removed with ease -- anyone know where I can buy this ? I'd hate to see an otherwise perfectly operating machine malfunction by virtue of a cracked piece of plastic ;) thanks for the input in advance!

Find your local xerox dealer in the phone book (look under the photocopier section). I'm sure they will help with getting spares either directly or via one of their contacts.
