We have recently moved to a new house that has central heating and a Cannon coalridge fire in the lounge. I would like to find out before winter if it is more efficient to use the gas fire to heat the house than the central heating which really does not agree with my chest problems.
I would prefer to use the gas fire as the main source of heat but also have to be careful with fuel bills. If anyone could answer it would be really appreciated
I HAVE A CANNON COAL FIRE AND HAVE HAD FOR THE LAST 17 YEARS ITS THE BEST FIRE TO HAVE AND FOR HEATING THE HOUSE I CAN RECOMMED IT THE GLOW OF WHAT LOOKS LIKE A FLAME FROM A REAL FIRE GIVES THE ROOM A REAL HOMELY FEEL. THE EXPENSE IS NOTHING TO RUN AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU KEEP IT WELL SERVICED AND DUST FREE YOU WILL HOPEFULLY HAVE NO PROBLEMS LIKE MYSELF. GOOD LUCK

depends on the type of heating system & boiler you have. remember that the fire will only heat one room, and it's usually more efficient to run a heating system.
