How do I change the tap washer on a Bristan 1901 bath filler mixer tap? I have done the obvious, removed the cap, unscrewed the top and the first nut. Now all I can see is a white sealing ring and a larger nut which won't budge and seems to be fixed in place. Please help. The water is pouring out when I turn the stopcock back on!

Sounds like you will need to undo this nut, you may need to take the tap of and pop it in a vice.

How old is the tap?

Have you tried ringing Bristan?
