Old Maytag A510 washer; How do I change the drive belt?

I assume it's the drive belt. The machine started a high pitch squeal and now the drum will not turn. It will spin, however, in the spin cycle. Are there different belts? Help...

Hello,

On this particular washer there is two belts. One goes from the motor to the water pump and the other goes from the motor to the gearcase. One of your belts may be broken or stretched out. Pull the washer forward a little and then tilt it back towards the wall and you can check out your belts that way.

PS: If you go to replace a belt make sure none of the pulleys are frozen stuck otherwise, you will ruin a new belt. Hope this helps.
