starting windows XP?

We had a power cut while windows was shutting down. Now the error message gives the options to start again normally or in in safe mode etc. Unfortunately the arrow keys to select an option will not select and the message keeps repeating. Hitting delete or F8 on start up has not helped. Very grateful for any info. Gene

The keyboard is not working, try another ps2 type. Win XP after a power cut should re-start without your intervention. If you ignore the start up error messages about F8 and such winXP should start up at least. Then a close and re-start normally sorts it out. Your faulty keyboard is causing your pc to hang. In the BIOS I bet it's set at stop on all errors or keyboard error. Try another ps2 keyboard.

try plugging in another keyboard or a usb keyboard to see if it'll work...if not you may just be out of luck and need to format your harddrive...
