I have a Valour Homeflame gas fire and when on the high setting the flames do not apear to be right

If the flames are yellow, then there is not enough oxygen getting into the fire, and there will be some soot produced. The flames should generally be blue with yellow tips if all is well. I think the burner bar and jets need to be cleaned with an air blast - a job for a gas safe engineer, really.
