how can two bathroom switches go out?

I have two bathrooms up stairs and in both bathrooms, the light & fan switches stoped working at the same time but the plug sockets all work, and the braker is not switched. What should I do?

there is a break in the circuit, could be 1,a local fuse supplying both bathrooms, fused spur in the loft, 2,junction box with a loose terminal that over time has shorted out and possibly burned away the conductor ie, like a rewirable fuse as per old fuse boards, mice say no more,if iv'e seen one crispy critter across a busbar iv'e seen a thousand.

I would guess the bathroom lights and fans are on the same circuit, which would most likely have a 6A breaker.
Is there a fuse in the circuit? If so check that.
If not it could be that there is a break in the circuit, possibly in a different room, so you may need to call in an electrician.
