How can I fix my washing machine, Zanussi, Aquacycle 1300?

How can I open the door on my compact washing machine(Zanussi Aquacycle 1300)?. After the cycle has finished I hear the click that means I can Open the door but it wont open

take the lid off and find the door interlock down the back.prise the door pecker and open the door.this is not easy.has the door handle broken?.if so use a screwdriver in there to open the door and then replace the door handle.
