yanked stuck tape from vcr, vcr does not work?

After yanking a stuck tape from the VCR it will no longer work, cannot insert a new tape. I know that was the wrong thing to do, is ther any way I can fix the VCR to make it work again, or is it hopeless.
It is a Sears model, about 8 years old.

By the sounds of it , you have bent the tape cradle and the drive wont accept the tape . You will be better off replacing the VCR than repairing it .
