How can I fix my Zanussi Jetstream FJ1033 Washing machine?

During a washing cycle a fault occurred which tripped the RCD on the kitchen circuit. The machine was still full of water and after re-setting the RCD I selected the Drain program and restarted the machine but the machine did not empty. I have subsequently fitted a new drain pump but the machine will still not empty. when I start a full wash cycle the machine runs normally until it reaches the point when it is supposed to empty. Are there any fuses in the circuit,if so where are they located? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (The machine is 18 years old and we really don't want to part with it.)

the timer can develop a short circuit that blows the fuse
the timer can be the first thing to fail (after the pressure switch that is)
before brushes wear out or heater element goes
remove lid 2 screws at rear
remove front panel
one screw hidden away on back of panel… 2 screws on front (1 behind detergent drawer so remove drawer first and clean)
lever off front panel (it will be left hanging on indicator light cable)
remove center cap from program knob
undo small nut on timer shaft
pull off knob
slide off all electrical connections
remove 2 screws from timer
replace with new timer costing about £100
