Water not getting into dishwasher?

No water seems to get into my Hotpoint Slimline 7800.
I guess the problem could be with the timer/controller or the solenoid valve that admits the water.
Is there any straightforward way to check these?

Ensure water valve is off under sink, and secure power to unit remove dishwasher/unit fill hose from valve under sink, turn on water to verify that the water pressure is good, reattach hose, next remove bottom kick plate and then remove hose from water/fill valve and check for same pressure, reattach hose and restore power to unit turn unit on normal wash cycle and listen for water/fill valve hum or check 120 volts with a multimeter on the fill valve solenoid (voltage or hum, but no fill equals a clogged water/fill valve). No hum or no voltage means that you need to trace your 120 volts going back to your control board and latch mechanism. Schematics and troubleshooting matrix should be located on your kick panel. good luck
