how do I repair my sky+ box?

my sky+ box wont let me watch or record any programmes and is very slow switching channels. Can anyone please help?

That sounds to me very much like a Sky+ box that doesn't have a subscription. You need a Sky subscription for Sky+ to work. (Even to watch recorded programmes.)
