cable on side of up and over garage door?

cable worn out and doesnt wind up - do i need to replace it?

you need to replace both sides as they are both of the same age. these come in a pair anyway so replacing both will give you two cables of the same age. depending on the age of the door and manufacturer will decide if you need just the cables or cones & cable as the older door types only used the combined cones & cables. blah blah call a garage door specialist..... or do it your self... either way it needs doing .... not that im selling my wares..... but i am!! if you live in the north west go to www.garagedoorschester.com for spares and service.... good luck

Need more info.... What is the cable for? How much current does it take? Or do you mean it's a piece of thin rope used to open the door?
But either way you should renew it.....That's like saying a leg has fallen off my three legged stool, should I replace it??? Doh!
