2weights on a howard miller grandfather clock are detached.will it chime?

considering purchase of used Grandfather clock, like to hear the chimes, 2 weights detached. Can I make shift a wire to play the chimes?

One weight is for time one for hour strike and one for full chime on quarter hour. If the clock is ticking then that is the one that exists. Generally the hang left to right as described. Good luck.
