SD memory card will not format?

I have a vivitar vivicam 3650, i got a sd memory card for the cam but it will not format,

Austin, I don't know the answer but is the card within the cameras parameters. In other words is it too big for the camera. I ask because some time ago I had a similar problem with my Olympus.
