The pressure guage on the bolier has gone to maximum, how can I get it back?

I have just returned from a holiday to find my boiler making a weird sound and the pressure gauge is at 4 (which is the maximum).
It is a glow worm combi boiler.
Is there something I can do to reduce the pressure?

Get the expansion vessel . Will need to be pumped up

Its curious that the pressure didn't release at 3 bar - this is the usual. Reduce pressure by bleeding water off at the radiators - it will take a while but its the most boiler friendly way. Make sure the filling loop isn't slightly open to prevent it pressurising again.
