The foot controller on my Singer 201K refuses to switch off. The motor keeps on running - it is a sudden fault. Can this be repaired? Alternatively where can I get another one?
I also have a similar problem, the sewingmachine does not stop. but I don't know how to open the foot control (sigma magic 22 , mod 8222)

Hi Alan, As stated by drivewithken the problem will be the suppressor having gone short circuit inside the foot control. I would replace the item rather than throw it away because it is there for a purpose to stop rf interference. I obtained a replacement from Radio Spares but i had to buy a minimum of 5 which cost £14.11p inc P&P. The replacement is slightly larger than the original but it still fits inside the pedal. The RS website is rswww.com

I recall this happening to my machine many years ago. I would take my foot off the controller and it would keep sewing as if a ghost had taken over! I unplugged the foot from the power supply and machine, removed screws from the foot and cleaned the lint and dust out of the foot. The lint buildup must have been causing continuous contact. This stopped it from sewing all by itself. Hope this helps.

Ken, you are a genius! So simple. Many, many thanks.

Hello Alan,
Undo the foot control and you will see a small suppressor, take the suppressor out and throw it away because you don't need it any more, it is connected to the two terminals and has fused.
