What is wrong with my Simpson Eziset 750 washing machine?

This Simpson Eziset 750 w/m was bought new in Feb 2008 and worked well until about a month ago. The machine started flashing lights and did not always move to the next part of the cycle, but sometimes it washed a complete cycle ok. I read previous questions and answers relating to this or similar models but I haven't fixed it. I have checked the out of balance switch and the lid close and lid lock but all seem ok. Recently it seems the light flashing most is the Rinse light. The owner's handbook information indicates this is a motor (possibly overheating) problem. At times the agitator sounds to move slower than normal. After using it I looked at the motor and felt its temperature. It did not seem excessively hot and it was clean without dust or insects anywhere near the motor. Sometimes we can advance the cycle using the Start/pause button to finish off. Other times we have to move the clothes into as older non electronic machine we kept to finish the wash. The machine has never been overloaded or mistreated. We live out of town so I cannot get a serviceman to call around. I will have to take it about 50 or 100 Kms to a service agent if I can't fix it. Any help is appreciated.
