how can i stop my washing machine leaking from under the drain pump?
i cleaned the drain filter on my miele novotronic w970 washing machine.ireplaced the filter securely and poured 2 litres of water into the detergent dispenser according to instructions but all the water came out again under the access panel.any ideas?
Sounds like drain pump hose either worn or not connected correctly. Also see if any seals are in the area. The pump also can be separated in order to clear out any blockages.Maybe not put back the right way?

Ruth, I am sorry we haven't gotten to the bottom of the problem. I have studied the drawings for this model & there isn't really much to look at other than the possible problems that are already checked out. Miele machines are the rolls royce of domestic appliances & they are extremely well built in comparison to certain other washers I won't mention here. Please let me know the cause of the leakage when it is finally identified. But to be frank this is the first time I have heard of this type of problem on a Miele washer.

The drain hose is in place.I suspect I'm missing something obvious ,or else the problem lies elsewhere and its a coincidence it came to light after cleaning the drain filter.Thank you so much for your help. Will call a service engineer today.

Ok Ruth we have ascertained you fitted the filter properly. On the W970 there is a drain hose attached to a plastic elbow inside the filter flap door. Is this in place? If not the water will drain straight out. The problem is around the drain pump area. Any internal leakage would find its way onto the bottom plate & activate the flood protection device, so the leakage is external.

No it didn't leak before. I screwed the filter in very carefuly and tightly. The filter o-ring doesn't look damaged and i cleaned out all of the grit and debris. Thankyou for replying.

Did it leak before you cleaned the filter?
If no...is the filter screwed in properly?
Is the filter o-ring damaged?
Is there grit or other debris in the area where the o-ring seals?
