I need to replace the socket on a table lamp. How do I disassemble the E12 socket to get to the wire terminals? The lady at the parts store said "just pull the tab forward to get the two pieces separated." I've pried on every tab (and other part) I can see in the socket. Never felt so stupid in my life. Help.
Dave, some sockets have interior screws that you can unscrew to remove the socket. Most all of these candelabra sockets, don't. This means you have to totally disasemble the lamp to remove the base and add a new one.
