Upstairs Hot - Downstairs Cold ???

Can any body help ? my upstairs rads are hot while the ones downstairs are cold, I've tried bleeding them without any joy, also the pump upstairs is red hot too, the system is a "normal" (dont know what you actually call it) one , not a combi. The whole system was working ok last week, then we turn the heating off as didnt need it on (not the boiler) turned it back on today and thats when my trouble started, I thankyou in advance for any help given

Dave as Meady says you can try turning off the radiators that are getting hot and if there is any air in the system it will push it round and may get hot.Have you got any air vents around the area of the pump that you could open to release air?

Hi i just had the same problem. I think i solved it by turning off all the up stairs rads and this seemed to kick all the down stairs ones in to life.

Hi Glen , no , no smell of burning , just the outer casing of the pump getting hot , there is also a wirling / buzzing sound from the pump but we have had that noise for as many years as I can remember

Sound like your pump has gone or has jammed,is there smell of burning coming from it?
