I own a Matsui VCR myself but it is a totally different model. This is how it worked on a Matsui VP9501:

1. Turn off your Video Player.
2. Plug in an aerial in to the aerial in/ RF in (I plugged in a one of those portable types).
3. Leave the VCR off for a while.
4. When you turn it back on, the word "AUTO" should appear on the display where your clock/timer goes normally.
5 Leave it for about 4 minutes, and it will automatically tune in to analogue (or the basic 5 channels) stations. Hope this has helped...
Kind regards, Chad Bronson

Have you tried Dixons/Currys for a manual? Matsui is a DSG brand.
