To get the digit(s) to appear on the screen is usually a function on the remote. This may not work, but here goes... I own a Bush VCR, (model unknown), and when you playback a tape, press CALL. CALL will display the digit(s), the time and date, and channel number (e.g. You are playing a tape on Channel 1, it will display as CH 1. Personally I find this very useful. hope this has helped you
