Wood gloss, been used as an undercoat for matt paint???

There is White gloss over my previously wallpapered Walls, it had been used as an undercoat for matt emultion paint. How do I fix this. Can I paint over it or do I strip the wallpaper. I have a time limit of 48 hours!! Can anybody please help, I don't know where to start :( x

Hi there. you'll have to strip the paper off. I had the same problem when i moved in to my present home. Strip off what you can and soak the walls with hot soapy water and leave it to soak for few minutes, then use a paint scraper to remove the rest Its worth it to get a better finish.I tried using a steamer but it was taking to long. Good luck.
