replacing control knobs vaillant ecotec?

Vaillant ecotec combi boiler
a control knob has snapped off and I have got replacements but cannot remove the stalk of the broken one. Tried tweezers and fine pliers but although there is some movement it won't pull out. can anyone help

No it doesn't,t mean a new PCB , Take the front cover off and ease the two side clips so the casing swings forward, just carefully unclip the back of the PCB and carefully unclip the PCB transistor board, you will have to ease the wiring to lift the board enough to let the broken pin fall out,, then put the board back in place, this is the only way to be able to push the new control knob back.from the front on the casing.i have just done it and it took me 30 minutes.Don,t forget to switch the electricity off while doing this.

hi guys!
I have a new valiant 937 and today my water temp dial fell off!! No pressure involved just turned down the temp and off it fell...Im really annoyed at this as the boiler cost a looot of money and i expected good quality parts. This may be a common problem who knows

the pcb needs to be partially removed to do this job. leave the pcb wired in but isolate the power then once you have acsessed the pcb you can bring it forward by uncliping it from the 4 plasic clips (it will still be held in place by the on off knob and display pins so be carefull once pullrd forward enough the remains of the spindle will fall out) the re attach the pcb 7 push new knobs through from front of appliance

I also have this problem - I did not strain or damage the knob but one day it just fell out - a systematic fault? - I found this answer from another contributer (thanks) - hope this helps - "well the worst words used in the boiler/heating industry are "its only a simple job" and this is no exception, i think if i remember rightly that the spindal on those vaillant eco's simple goes throught straight to the pcb and turns a potentiometer which is actualy a part of the pcb so it probably means........a new pcb !"
