ORIGINAL KUNDO JAHRESUHR 400 DAY CLOCK?

JUST BEEN GIVEN ONE OF THESE CLOCKS...IT IS OLD AND I LOVE IT!
WINDING INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO TURN THE KEY "COUNTER CLOCKWISE" BUT IT WON'T TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE...IT DOES TURN "CLOCKWISE".
COULD IT BE THAT THE WINDER IS BROKEN?
HELP! PLEASE! THANK YOU!

I change the Suspension Spring about every 3 years
BUT now the clock only runs for 30 minutes..when I
turn the Mainspring a few revolutions it snaps and I
need to turn it again...I thing I can replace the Mainspring if I could buy the right one...does this sound
like my problem

Ihave a kundo 400 day and yes it does turn the wind anti c/w yours must be fully wound becuse it will run over a year on a full mainspring and even only running a week would not move the wind very far. If it works on the level it only needs to oscillate 2 of the four pendulum balls to work the clock, and adjustment of a/r +- is indicated on the table above the brass balls. Use light clock/ watch oil on any bearing and set the plum as near cetre as you can,so it does not foul against the well's cicular side. Good luck. Bryan

looking at clock from the rear there is a small silver lever on left hand side place winding key on and ever so lightly turn left and hold press lever down hold key because clock will unwind very fast repeat, until not over wound, also look at rotary pendulum very fine wire goes up to minute hand make sure is not broke or seperated

Dear Lorna,
I am an italian (Trieste/Italy) collector and expert of this kind of clocks with twisting pendulum, named in the USA "Anniversary Clocks" too (Kundo, Schatz, Kern, Haller etc.). They are no more produced, since the seventy years, the factories in Germany has been closed, as these beautiful clocks was too delicate for the normal user and because of this, they goes very often to failure. Anyway ALL these clocks have ONLY counterclockwise rewinding. Probably your Kundo was "overwinded" and now is "blocked". Any attempt to start it up might cause worse damage. The clock needs a qualified servicing or repair. In the USA one of the best clockmaker for 400 day clocks is "Bill's Clockworks" of Flora, Indiana - see on the web. By oneself can't you make nothing. (Sorry about my poor English! I am Italian/German bilingual)
