One good, dependable cellular phone?

Too many choices and too much poor quality in cell phone selections.
Question is, Isn't the their a best "Best" cell phone of all to make our selection from? By now the manufactures should know what works best and what features are on each.
I'm qualified to upgrade phones but am unale to make the perfect selection.

When I worked for a major 'phone manufacturer they made a phone every 10 seconds and 10% were subject to a warranty claim - they are very delicate and many users misuse them - they are not intended to be repeatedly dropped onto the floor and into the kitchen sink or run over by the car.

The more gadgets and gizmos and moving parts a phone has the greater the chances of premature failure - simplicity is the key to reliability.

They gave me a free phone when I joined the company - no gadgets on it - trouble free since 2001.
