how do I get my kenmore washer open to change the pump?

Kenmore series 70 washer
will not pump out water, attempting to access internals for checking for clogged lines or pump replacement, but can't find screws or whatever to open it up....found schematic at another site, but does not totally conform to my model

I left instructions for getting to pump. If your washer does nothing in the spin cycle, the most likely problem is your lid safety switch. You will need to follow the same procedure to access that. If that is your problem, you can do a temp. repair by jumping out the three prong plug I mentioned on the top of the body, under the console.

I'm not familiar with your particular model. If it is a few years old, check the following. Facing the washer, at either end of the control panel, there should be two plastic end cap covers. If you have these, gently pry them with a small, flat blade screwdriver. I believe they should pry from the inner edge, out.
If you get these off, you will find a phillips head screw under each. Remove the screws, then pull forward on the bottom both ends of the panel. It should pull forward and flip back. You will then see two S shaped, gold colored clips. Place a large screwdriver, vertically into the clips and pry, pushing away from you, they should pop and unlatch. Hint: note the position that you removed them, sometimes confusing which way they go back on. Unplug the three wire door switch connector which is a molded plastic plug just to the left of the right hand clip. Don't forget to plug it back when your done or you'll have no spin. Now grab the washer body, pulling the top towards you, then lift the front up and off. The pump should be under the front of the tub. Two clips, two hoses and pull it off. Hope this works for yours and I didn't write this for nothing. Good practice in communication anyway!
