Set will not turn on -- starts to power up, but then cuts off after just a few seconds -- pulled the center board which has the large cooling fins attached to the chips controlling convergence -- fixed broken solder mounts and re-installed -- it still won't power up
I did not have the remote that came with the TV so I programmed my Dish Network remote to the TV. After that I went to the V Chip screen by using the front panel option. Than with Dish Network remote that I programmed the TV for I entered the numerical code (0000). After all of this I was able to get into the V Chip menu. From there I controlled the options by using the TV's front panel controls. At this point I was able to disable the v chip.

Im not sure if this answer works for all Mitsubishi models (not even sure what model I have) but hitting the 9 and QV button at the V-chip reset screen will allowed me to reset the v-chip. Good luck
