Hi there every hour or so my boiler turns on and I think just heats up the water in the system for about 10 secs or so. This really annoying and obviously keeps wasting gas. Please help I'm at the end of my teather! It's a vaillant turbomax 824e and works fine apart from this. Many many thanks

check your viewing panel for a letter 'c' this will have become active if you selected MAX water temp, this 'c' is to tell you the boiler is keeping the water preheated for instant hot water. If you want to turn it off,(the letter 'c') turn the water temp control dial FULLY ANTICLOCKWISE, now WAIT for the 'c' to disappear then just turn water dial clockwise to the desired TEMP.
