my vcr`s picture and sound quality goes poor after about 45 mins of play time and it will not rewind tapes.
if i try rewind on video search it just chews the tape and makes some nasty noises.
are there parts still availiable for this machine or is it time to junk it

It is time to junk it. (Although, have you tried tracking?) It will be easier to scrap it rather than to get parts for it. (It will save you a load of time too.)
