How can I mend my Intellisense AG6 sounder&strobe?

I have just purchased a new Avanti 8 zone control panel and an Intellisense AG6 sounder and strobe. After I installed the sounder, I fitted the link, as the notes in the manual suggested, to enable the battery, but the siren went off straight away before I even powered anything. Any suggestions?
