what causes a whineing noise when boiler runs after a while ( 15- 20 minutes) boiler still heats okay

Does it sound like a fog-horn? Could be the exhaust fan unit seizing up. Squirt some WD40 on the spindle. If this cures the noise aim to replace the unit quickly as it will conk out pretty soon.
