The problem is most likely the disc is worn. So you will need a new seal kit and Disc.

I have a Waterside mc250 with the digital display and for the last two weeks its has been eating salt tablets and filling the salt tank up with water to a point where water is pouring out of the overflow. Any ideas?

Have you got the Electronic valve with the digital display or the older style with a black timer? How old is the machine?
