How old is the TV? plasma's only have a shelf life of around 4-5yrs, May need a new screen as it sounds like the layers inside the screen may have burned out, a new screen could run you up to £350, if its worth fixing go ahead, or just buy a new one, sorry to be the bearer of bad news
