can i put higher amp fuse in voltage regulator as i can not find a 0.8 amp?

As well as checking the 0.8 amp you should also be looking on the old fuse for the voltage. This is most important. I suspect that the 40mm 0.8 amp fuse you are looking at is the high voltage fuse. Is it inside a plastic tube with two thick wires? If so then those high voltage fuses often run on 2.5K volts. That is 2 & a half thousand volts. A normal 230 volt fuse will be useless. This sort of voltage will easily kill you if you don't know what you are doing. Be very careful.

30mm may not fit - too short to make both connections.

A higher rating is dangerous - in very extreme circumstances I might temporarily replace an 800mA with 900mA or even a 1A fuse for testing perhaps but the designer will have specified a specific rating for a reason. Under no circumstances should you consider using a regular plug-top fuse.

Take care...
