Bosch Worcester boiler packed up this morning. Help!?

Hi

This morning the boiler stopped working and water pressure dropped to 0. Hit the reset button and tried to put more water into the system via the after filling tap but the boiler keeps shutting down - presumably as an automatic reaction to the system water pressure being so low. Can't see any evidence of a burst pipe in hte house anywhere. Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks Fiona.

I'll give this a go in the morning, I've read about lots of people having this problem but nobody's mentioned the loss of water pressure. Hope this is what it is as it seems easily fixable :-)

Hi Fiona

I am not a gas engineer or anything like that but my neighbours boiler packed up this morning as well. Theirs is was a Worcester bosch, situated in the loft. What seems to be happening in this cold weather is that the overflow from the boiler is freezing, theirs came off the boiler via a plastic pipe which ran into the stench pipe. It had frozen, hence the water vapour cannot get away from the boiler, therefore the boiler cuts out.

I do know if this will help but the gas engineer who we know who came out said he had four more similar calls to go to today because of the weather. He unfroze the pipe by removing from the stack you could see the frozen water inside. I do not know what he did then but presumably reset boiler and re pressurised, l am only guessing.
the boiler is working fine now.

Hope this helps
