TV starts off good then color goes all dark?

I have a GE TV and when you first turn it on the color is fine. But after about 15 seconds it gets all dark like the black level and color setting are being changed, but their not. Any suggestions. The TV is only 1 or 2 years old. We had some big 18" speakers beside it last year and noticed the color blotches form the magnets so we moved them and the blotches went away. Could they have messed something up?

First I would eliminate Tuner, IF problems and check if TV works correctly in RBG only. Do on-screen menus appear clear? Does Teletext appear clear, (if available)?

Do you have any other external video equipment connected to the direct AV inputs to the TV? eg. DVD, Decoders etc.?

If you do, disconnect them and try operating the TV off an RF signal only.

Conversely, if you don't have any external AV equipment connected, check if the TV picture is OK off a direct Ext. AV Input. This will eliminate Tuner/IF problems.
